Weekend in Krakow, Poland – Travel Guide & Tips

I have recently read an article saying that Krakow is chosen by travellers to be the best travel destination in Europe as it’s beautiful but still quite cheap! There are plenty things to do and see but you could spend there just 2 or 3 days to get enough of it which means do some sightseeing and enjoy your time in the nice venues. How do I know? Well, I have been visiting Krakow many times! I come from Poland and I live about 4 hours from there which is not that far comparing to 9 hours from the country’s capital.

Visit Krakow like a local

You will find plenty of Krakow travel guides out there, however this guide is a bit different. I would like to share with you some nice places as I would show them to a friend. Actually, some of the ideas are inspired by my friend who is living there and shared with me where to go to enjoy your time like a local does!

Krakow Old Town

Krakow Old Town, spot the Klub Spolem on the left 😉

Don’t get me wrong, I still would recommend you to see places like Krakow old town and Wawel hill, but there are some reasons behind other than the architecture such as nice walks in beautiful surroundings, the positive buzz, nice bars where you can hide in when the weather is not great. What I am trying to say is, this guide is not about ticking the boxes in the bucket list of what to see. I want you to relax and enjoy your time in Krakow. Also, do not expect the photos of the most popular tourist attractions here. As I said, you can find plenty of them on the Internet. Here is my interpretation of a weekend spend in Krakow. I hope you’ll like it 🙂

#1 place to see in Krakow

So the first place to go is Old Town! This place is really magnificent and I would always go there with someone special during the day time to walk around through the market square, snack on traditional Polish bagel Obwarzanki before heading south out of the square along Grodzka street to Wawel Hill. This is the true treasure for the fans of history and architecture but can be also a nice way of spending a romantic time with someone.  If you are here to have fun don’t miss the Old town too! There are plenty of boutiques, shops, bars and clubs. Actually this is one of the most popular places to go out for my friends who live and study there. Take a look at the list of their recommendations of best bars and food places in Krakow Old Town.

Kazimierz in Krakow

Another nice place to see in Krakow is Kazimierz which is another popular area where you can walk around and enjoy beautiful, trendy and creative surroundings.  There is also plenty of thing to do there, however what I remember from my last visit to Krakow is nice food at Warsztat – see the photo below! And the most surprising tastes of ice creams at Good Lood. There is a nice club that many locals go to as well called Cocon. If you are interested in Jewish history it is also a treasure place to go to.

Best place to drink and eat with the view in Krakow – My choice

Tired of busy streets? The other nice place in Krakow I would take you is there! Imagine chilling by the river in the cosy and stylish bar with the view on the Wawel Castle and the other side of Krakow. Let’s go to Forum Przestrzenie! This retro, coffee and cocktail bar has win my heart from the first sight. When is a nice weather, I would recommend going there just before the sunset to enjoy the amazing view. You can still seat inside if it’s raining and it would be as much enjoyable as outside! If you get hungry grab a healthy sandwich or pizza and you are good to spend a nice few hours in there.
